The abortion lobby works aggressively to spread anti-life propaganda to young people. YOU can help us stop them. Will you donate now to recruit, equip, and deploy pro-life students across the state?
Yes! I want to transform our culture from pro-abortion to pro-life.

Everything we do is made possible by the generous people, organizations, and companies that give to Protect Life Michigan. We are responsible for stewarding and directing your investment, and we take that seriously.
As required by Michigan law, Protect Life Michigan undergoes a yearly financial audit by a third-party firm, which is filed with the Michigan Attorney General. We are happy to share that audit with supporters upon request.

We have earned a Platinum score for financial transparency with third-party sites like Candid, the highest score available.
We adhere to the principles published by the Association of Fundraising Professionals' "Donor Bill of Rights." We hold ourselves to the highest degree of integrity and transparency possible.

Meet our boardIn 2005, pro-life student groups from across Michigan gathered at Michigan State University to establish Protect Life Michigan. Back then, we went by Students for Life of Michigan. Those students formed a coalition to work together to protect life on college campuses across the state.
In 2013 we hired our first staff member, Christen Polo. That step let us make campus visits and offer far more resources to the students in our coalition, and the number of pro-life groups grew from 6 to 46. The need for a greater presence on campus became clear.
In 2019 we launched the Campus Activist Model, which changed how our college groups operate: weekly meetings to learn how to talk about abortion, frequent campus activism, and real pro-life community. Through it, our students began reaching 100% of their peers with the reality of abortion each year.
Soon after, we launched our high school program, serving high school groups and giving school assembly presentations to inspire and equip young leaders.
In 2020, driven by a desire to innovate, we began developing outreach strategies that now change the minds of 37% of the pro-choice people we talk with, right on the spot.
Today we have a team of trained professionals mentoring students into exceptional pro-life leaders, statewide events that equip young leaders in the most advanced pro-life strategies, and an army of alumni serving the pro-life cause across countless career fields. We serve over 50 high school and college campuses, and we remain dedicated to the same mission, vision, and core values we held the day we were founded.
Protect Life Michigan is an independent organization, not affiliated with any other statewide or national organization. We do collaborate widely, though. You'll frequently find us working alongside the Knights of Columbus, Right to Life chapters, Life Advancement Group, Created Equal, churches, and many others.
In order to collaborate, we do expect other organizations to follow our ethical standards of non-violence and loving outreach to those in need.
Our staff is made up of trained professionals who have dedicated their lives to ending abortion. That said, we partner with hundreds of courageous student volunteers to carry out our mission to change hearts and save lives.

Because reliable, recurring support means we can keep reaching students without having to pull back. It helps us plan, manage the budget, and protect essential programs through uncertain seasons. For staff who raise their own support, it also means more time on campus and less time renewing one-time gifts. That said, every gift fuels this work, and we're grateful for all of it.

Protect Life Michigan strives to follow ethical standards of fundraising, financial management, and reporting. We adhere to the principles published by the Association of Fundraising Professionals' Donor Bill of Rights, and we hold ourselves to the highest degree of integrity and transparency possible.
Staff are required to abide by our Fundraising Principles & Code of Ethics before support raising. Our Treasurer, bookkeeper, and employees are required to abide by our Administrative & Accounting Policies.
Support raising is the process by which individuals or organizations secure prayer and financial support from a network of personal contacts to fuel their ministry. It's very common in faith-based, missionary contexts.
Protect Life Michigan uses support raising to fund our work because it is relationship-driven, built on personal connections with friends, family, churches, and past supporters. It's mission-centered: the support funds a specific mission, not personal enrichment. It's ongoing rather than a one-time campaign, requiring regular communication and long-term commitment. And it's holistic, often including prayer, encouragement, and other resources alongside financial gifts.
Over 90% of our employees raise their own support. The only exceptions are roles in financial administration: bookkeeper, gifts processor, and other development-centric positions. We recognize that your support is what fuels our work, and we're incredibly grateful for our financial partners.
We set ranges for each position that seek to be in line with the salaries of local school teachers. No one gets rich from pro-life work, but we want our employees to make a livable wage.
Upper management reviews compensation annually and the Board of Directors signs off on it. Executive-level employees have their performance reviewed annually by the Board, and any pay adjustments are decided by the Board.
Where employees are related, family members may not complete performance reviews for each other, or request reimbursements or wage adjustments for each other. Any employee with a familial relationship has their performance review and salary reviewed and approved annually by either the Executive Director or the Board of Directors.
Our Board of Directors approves a budget annually and evaluates it quarterly. Our Board Treasurer reviews our financials each quarter and reports on them to the full Board. Any variances from the budget must be approved by the Board of Directors.
There are many checks and balances on the organization's finances, ensuring there is oversight of funds and expenses. We hired a third party to help set those up.
